Toufic P. Nassif
President and CEO
Toufic is the founder and the driving force behind T P Nassif & Associates LLC. Prior to his current role, he held the position of President and CEO for Sonde Resources Corp. and was a member of the Board. Prior to his role with Sonde he was the VP and Commercial Director for BP Libya where he lead the negotiation for the landmark exploration deal that was signed with the Libyan NOC in 2007, the largest Exploration deal in BP’s history and the largest ever awarded by Libya. He also established BP’s presence in Libya and managed all the non technical aspects of the operations including ethics and compliance from 2007 until September 2010. Prior to his role in Libya, Toufic was the Director of Negotiations for BP North Africa where he worked on the business development and the growth agenda (new ventures) for BP in Libya and Algeria. He also handled different aspects of negotiations for BP in Algeria as well as the country management of the BP Algeria (2002-2004) that included oversight and direction of office administrative and financial staff, security, corporate and ethical compliance, external affairs, social investment and relationship management programs. Toufic served as a director for BP Exploration North Africa and BP Exploration Libya Ltd from 1999-2010 and also held the position of senior Advisor for E&P Business Development for BP Plc from 2007-2010.
Prior to his move to London in 1999, Toufic was the Director of Commercial Development for the Exploration and Production Sector of Amoco Corporation, responsible for identifying and developing new business ventures in North Africa and the Middle East. He formulated country entry strategies and led the negotiations with the Algerian Government and Sonatrach to secure Amoco's Entry into Algeria in 1998 with a $1.2 billion gas development project.
Toufic held in 2004-2005 the office of the president of Association of International Petroleum Negotiators (AIPN), an organization of 3300 members (deal makers) from more than 80 countries. He is a Member of the Faculty of the AIPN Negotiation Workshop, the Faculty of the International Energy law and Contracts and Negotiations Course, and a Member of the Editorial Board for the Journal of World Energy Law & Business
Toufic has more than 35 years in the energy business with comprehensive experience in business development and commercial activities with specific expertise in North Africa and Middle East. He has extensive experience in petroleum operations and reservoir management, proven large project coordination and leadership skills, strong relationship building, strategic planning, negotiations, technical, financial and overall project evaluation skills.
